Movies ... and art and music and food ...

1st Wednesday is that splendid monthly event at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art that offers a great mix of art and entertainment.

The next one up is Wednesday, April 5 from 6 - 9 p.m. There are gallery tours at 6:30 and 7 of the exhibition "Maxfield Parrish: Master of Make-Believe" at 6:30 & 7 p.m.

Throughout the evening you'll hear live music by singer/songwriter Candice Ivory.

And, film lovers, you can see "Act One," which recently ended a two week run at Malco Studio, so if you fiddled around and missed it, here's your chance again. The film, you remember won the Hometown Award at the 2005 Indie Memphis Film Fest, and there will be an introduction by director Brad Ellis. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Beforehand, you can dine in style at the Brushmark from 6 - 8:30 p.m. Menu highlights include: Fried Green Tomatoes with Lump Crab and Beurre Blanc Grilled Salmon with Cucumber Caper Relish Grilled Ribeye with Bourbon Wild Mushrooms. Reservations: Ed Tatum, 544.6225.

And there's a cash bar featuring sparkling wines.

The event is free for Museum members, $5 for not-yet members. It's presented by CB Richard Ellis; sponsored by Paulsen Printing and 94.1 The Buzz.
